Once tested we setup anonymous authentication (for its off the domain It wont know NTLM authentication) and hey presto the fax dialled in and routed through email.
Once on the Host we provided the local admin account with FAX full control permissions (this can be done in the Microsoft fax service manager, right click on Fax Local -> properties -> security) and setup the SMTP authentication to go through an email account we created called and typed in the name of the server into the requested fields (Make sure you have an A Record in your DNS for the host, so when pinging your Exchange server you can get an IP and name back & not a MAC, for the host in my scenario is OFF the domain). We have plugged the USB fax modem into the host and wanted it running through a specific Hyper-V server (exchange) but after having issues with USB redirection we decided to install the fax role on the physical host. I have 2 Hyper V servers running on a physical host server, both hyper-v servers are connected to the domain while the host is off (best practice). I'm using vcenter host in datacenter for that W2016 server virtual machine.I have experienced the same sort of issue that everyone else seems to be experiencing but I have found a work around, this will only apply if you have a similar setup. I'm not using physical machine for W2016 server virtual machine.
I'm using nested Hyper-V Windows Server 2016 on ESXi 5.5 VMWare Vcenter and edited the VMX file and added the two following lines:Īlso enabled "Use Intel VT-x/AMD-v virtualization and Intel EPT/AMD RVI for MMU virtualization" via VMware VSphere Client 5.5 (also tried from web client - the same result).Īlso checked BCDEDIT - hypervisor launch type is set on auto startīut setting "no execute memory protection" I can't find anywhere neither in BIOS of virtual machine neither in VMware VSphere Client. I've have the same problem, getting the same error in Hyper-V and screen like mentioned above ("The application encountered an error while attempting to change the state of (virtual machine name)." )
